During her early education, all her designs had been termed as ‘cute’. This led her to question this very attribute and break out of it thorough experimentation with the ugly. Whether it was the irregular toys she made for children that are sick of cute, or her designs and illustrations for which she won several awards – a recurring theme in her work is the uncanny. She likes to leverage things she is unfamiliar with, and work outside of her comfort zone.
Nalisha founded Oddball, an independent design studio that specialises in child culture design, play and all things odd. The work mixes the fields of graphic design, illustration, toy design, concept and events. It is currently based in Sweden.
She’s odd but nice.
